CIRCLES

I’m in the airport awaiting the flight to Ft. Lauderdale, then the Gaither Farewell Caribbean Cruise. This year marks Bill and Gloria’s final voyages to both the Caribbean and Alaska. It will be wonderful, of course, but perhaps a little melancholy, too. Time doesn’t slow for any of us.

It seems to me that life occurs in circles, with each one demanding completion. Whether a career, a relationship, a commitment, etc, the circles always seek resolution. Maybe we are compelled to do a better job, to go the extra mile, or to right a wrong. One thing is certain: as we grow older, we gain a richer, more honest perspective, but it comes at the costly currency of time.

When God closes a circle, it brings peace to that part of my journey. Equally importantly, it allows my heart to let go of it, knowing that the Great Orchestrator arranged that the rests in a piece of music are just as critical as the notes. And so it is with the stages of our lives. HIS PLAN IS WONDERFUL AND HIS WISDOM IS MAGNIFICENT! Is. 28:29

Blessings to you all!

I appreciate you and your life so much! I first met you in Gallipolis Ohio when you were 18 or 19. We wrote letters back and forth for several years until letters were no longer cool. I finally got to see you in concert in Kingsport TN. where I live now. A friend of mine for a Christmas present brought me to see you in a Christmas concert. I don’t think you really remembered me. We made pic tures together. You are really an inspiration!! My name is Heidi Randolph. Prayers for you!! Enjoy your cruise and God’s wonderful blessings!

    Janet,

You are absolutely right…time slows for no one. I grew up on Gaither music, not really understanding how much of an influence they were on me until I was in my 30s watching the first Homecoming videos. This was also my first experience with your music, and I can’t begin to tell you how much your music influences me.

Thank you…I hope you had a good and safe flight, and have a great time on the cruise!

        You are welcome!

Let me also say this. Having been a vocal music teacher for over 20 years, I am fascinated by the quality and character of people’s singing voice. Your voice quality, your range, and your emotional expression always fits the text you are singing. This is such a great skill. Thank you for allowing God to use your marvelous voice for His glory.

    Hi Janet,

I loved what you said about a richer, more honest perspective as that really resonates with me at this stage of life. Hope you thoroughly enjoy the cruise. I know many blessings will be had! (Hard to think of Bill doing “the final” of anything…)

    Hi Janet,

I have always enjoyed the Gaither group’s renditions of traditional hymns. My favourite hymn is Fairest Lord Jesus, and may I say that I thoroughly enjoy your performance of this hymn (I am constantly asking the Amazon Alexa in my kitchen to play it).

I have a question regarding your participation in this performance – I noticed that a lot of the songs you wrote are centred on the Lord Jesus (I love “I Give You Jesus) and I wonder how the privilege of singing the hymn came about? Did you request to sing it or did the Gaithers select you in particular for this hymn?

Sending love in Christ, wishing you a pleasant cruise and hoping you can satisfy my curiousity,

    Oliver, Blackpool (United Kingdom)

Thank you for your comment, sir. The songs that we sing are chosen by Mr. Gaither, as he has a real gift for programming and for selecting voices that fit songs.

May God bless you. Thank you for writing.

Dear Janet, you came to my Church several years ago, I did the skit with changing the clothes and was so starstruck by you. I’m sorry I acted so goofy 😛 but you were so kind and even let me sing. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I’m singing in our Church this Sunday your beautiful song I’d Do it All Over Again. I’m up very early and a little weepy this morning as another trial in the circle of life is looming. I pray I can sing this song as honestly and sincerely as you wrote it. Thank you for using your great talents for God. Blessings and much love. Sharon
