Happy 4th of July !!!
Hey Everybody,
It’s July 2nd – and everyone seems to be stocking up on charcoal, hot dogs and sparklers. It’s time to celebrate our Red, White, and Blue; time to whisper a word of gratitude for freedom past, a prayer for freedom future.
I’ve been blessed to have celebrated the 4th already this year, and we’re still 2 days out. I joined First Baptist Dallas for USA Today – a huge event complete with incredible choir, orchestra, pomp, circumstance, and flags – always the flags. Tomorrow I’ll join Ivan Parker for our second Independence Day celebration in beautiful Staunton, Virginia at Gypsy Hill Park. How blessed can one person be?

Doran Bugg, Minister of Music FIRST BAPTIST DALLAS
I hope that each of you will enjoy this incredible weekend. I hope that you will be with those you love. I hope that your backyard chef is up to the task, and I hope your fireworks are loud and colorful. I hope that you break into song, “God Bless America” at the least likely moment, and I hope that God is listening – and does.
We love you…..
Janet

Hello Janet,
My husband & I so enjoyed the concert on Sat. night with you and John Starnes. Your music and comments were inspirational, John’s too! We thought that you did not sing quite enough but loved your final song “Jesus is Alive & Well” with that great classic Paschal ending
Although you did not say much at the concert about being a cancer survivor, I know the subject is close to your heart. While at the concert I felt so strongly that I should send on to you the story of my niece. Her name is Rachel Barkey, a young woman of great faith and courage. She died July 2, 2009 at 37 years of age leaving behind a heartbroken husband and two beautiful children. Rachel’s first diagnosis was breast cancer 5 years ago and then in Jan 2009 the dreaded news that the cancer had returned in a very aggressive way. Rachel had agreed to speak in March to relate her story and some truths that she had learned along the way to the women at her church, maybe 40 or 50, and then what happened was a God thing. The numbers exploded – over 500 women came to this amazing event. Friends at her church put together a website which I will pass on to you. Perhaps it will be an encouragement to the women you are in touch with. There is a link to listen to Rachel’s story as she delivered it the evening of March 4th. http://www.deathisnotdying.com
Rachel’s departure from this life is still so fresh and we as a family still hurt deeply but as we grieve we pray that her words will continue to touch hearts.
I followed your cancer journey and passed it on to Rachel a few years ago. How strange that I am now passing her website on to you.
Thank you for your wonderful contribution to gospel music over the years. We never miss an opportunity to hear you sing.
For now,
Carol Adams

My wife has loved Janet’s singing for years, but I just heard Janet for the first time tonight, and I have worn out “it’s lucky I met you” replaying it on our DVR.
Once in a great while I come across a song that just hits me so hard I just can’t get enough of it. I listened to all her songs on Gaither’s “The best of Janet Paschal” and will be ordering this CD, and I’m sure others as well.
What a beautiful woman with a one of a kind voice! I can’t believe I’ve gotten through 55 years here on this earth, and have never heard her before.
I hope I get to see you in concert somewhere, someday.
Please keep going!
