Sunday in Oslo

Posted in Janet's Posts at 6:25 am by Janet

Good morning, Everybody,

It’s a beautiful morning in Oslo – the view from my window looks like a painted landscape – a clear blue sky, colorful buildings, and mountain peaks lending depth to the erratic horizon. And I think everyone agrees that they saved the best concert for last.

The ladies and gentlemen of Oslo sang – how they sang – in Norwejian – ‘Something About That Name’, ‘The King Is Coming’, ‘He Touched Me’, and the grand finale’, ‘Because He Lives.’ Nothing is as beautiful as watching an overseas group sing a familiar song in their language with hands raised as far as the top tier of the venue. It was a moment. It was an evening to be remembered. It was something to return to on those nights that seem to land on deaf ears. It couldn’t have been more special – or poignant – or fitting. What a treat to be in the room.

We’re on the way home tomorrow. We’ll be in touch then.

Blessings,
Janet

Oslo

Hey Everybody,

We are in Oslo today – a beautiful city with mountains and trees and warm, friendly people. The concert is almost sold out – 7500 – and the people are very excited. That makes us very excited. Solveig Henderson (who has been on some of the cruises) is here tonight and that’s a treat for us. She’s a lovely girl from here and a wonderful singer/songwriter as well as a precious person.

Last night the people in Rotterdam were just incredible. They sang freely – and they knew the songs! It was so moving to see them lift their hands and sing ‘Because He Lives…’ God has people in every corner of the world….

We’ll rest up tomorrow and head home on Monday. Everyone is planning their first meal back – Mexican, McDonald’s, Steak ‘n Shake, Wendy’s. Culinary experts we ain’t…..

Have a great weekend. Hope to see you soon.

Love,
Janet

Hey Everybody,

It’s Thursday morning and we’re on a bus from Germany to Amsterdam.

The concert last night was amazing. The seating was first-come, first serve and they began lining up about six hours before the concert started. When the doors opened, it was like the California gold rush – we kept looking at each other trying to decide who they’d come to see! They were warm, enthusiastic, and Mr. G put together a four hour concert that felt like half that time. They didn’t want us to quit and we didn’t want to, either. Needless to say, it would be great to return.

The second-best thing was the food – we had incredible steaks, potatoes, vegetables, desserts, etc. the night before. Everyone has put their diet on a back burner for this 12 days. We do it for the hosts, you understand. It’s all sacrificial on our part:)

Our first city was Belfast. Several of us took a car to a lovely old hotel at the coast the night before the concert. We had their signature fish and chips, but, mainly, we sat and talked and laughed. That’s still the best part. Oh yeah, the concert was fun, too…

In Glasgow the people were great, as well. We were without video screens the first two nights so that made us have to adjust a little bit – but it’s good to have to think about the details occasionally – keeps you on your toes.

We’re taking a tour of Amsterdam and Anne Frank’s house today on the way to Rotterdam. This will be interesting…. Such a great, sad story.

We’re thinking of you. Thanks for your prayers!

Love,
Janet

Update on Nathaniel Luebke

Posted in Janet's Posts at 11:31 am by John

This is an update from Nathaniel’s Godfather who has so graciously kept us in the loop in the progress of this precious little boy.

Dear Friend,

We got the greatest news possible about Nathaniel Luebke. He has 100% of his sister’s cells which means he is cured. We still have to wait until September to be positive, but rarely does this kind of report with this high rating reverse itself.

Please go to the link and read the posting by Michelle. It make more sense than Dad and I do.

He and I sat and cried on the phone for 20 minutes as soon as the hospital called. We blubbered like little babies thinking of all the prayers and about all the people like you that have gone the extra mile to help defeat Satan and heal my Godson.
