Sea Legs

Hey Everybody,
It’s Saturday morning and I’m in the Ft. Lauderdale airport waiting for my flight home. Don’t you just love wireless internet….

The cruise was wonderful. Perfect weather, wonderful food, great conversation, scenic views, interesting shopping, oh yes, and there was music, too! One of my favorite events was the ship’s 5K Walk For The Cure – and the passengers really came onboard with it. The ship actually ran out of some t-shirt sizes! We had a great time and, hopefully, made a small difference.

I’m trying to do a mental count of the shoes I packed for the trip. My best guess is 17 pairs; 16 of which I wore. Just wondering….Do you think there’ll be shoes in heaven?

Everyone did a great job in the concerts. The Vocal Band sounds great – and they are all such NICE guys with such NICE families. Jeff and Sheri sang some new songs that were wonderful. Russ sang and we all reiterated our long time love for his distinct gift. Lynda Randle sang her signature songs and her rich voice was right on target as usual. Signature Sound made us smile and ask, “Can they do that on stage?” Ben Speer sounded great, as he has for years and years and years. The Hoppers were awesome, as usual. Joy Gardner blessed us all with her anointed singing. We all got to know Lisa Daggs a little better, as she shared her story onstage.

Okay, here’s the ‘behind the scenes’… Charlotte Ritchie saved me mid-week. Bill called the song ‘It’s Not About Now’ and I stood to sing it. I sang verse one and the first chorus. Following the turnaround I was poised to begin the second verse when my mind went blank. I had NO IDEA what the lyric was. I made up some inane, trite phrases until the song returned to chorus, thinking I was home free… FORGETTING that there were 3 verses to that song. I simply held a note until the third verse void disappeared and I jumped back into the chorus….FORGETTING that there was yet another tricky part. Oh, it was not pretty. Since we do the same concert twice a night, I passed a pen and paper to Charlotte during the early part of the second concert and asked ‘What is the 2nd verse?’ She wrote it down and sent it back to me. This time I knew all three verses – as they were intended – thanks to Charlotte, my new hero. When you see her, tell her that she rules!

We’re almost ready to board. Have a great weekend, and remember to stay close to someone with a great memory!

Love,
Janet
