It’s Wednesday morning and I’m heading out the door to do some Christmas shopping. John intercepted me and reminded me that a blog was due today…
This past weekend was a lot of work and a lot of fun. I was in Huntington, WV Saturday night at Christ Temple. The music minister there used to sing with Karen Peck and New River and he is a great singer and songwriter. He and his wife, Shirley, took me to Jim’s Spaghetti House there in Huntington and showed me the booth where JFK sat and ate spaghetti decades ago. That night the church choir had their Christmas banquet and I had a chance to sing for them.
On Sunday night I was with Mark Lowry in Asheville for his senior trip. THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!! There were a lot of incredible singers there and the entire program was very laid back and warm. The audience was great, too. They listened and laughed and responded – just a perfect crowd. I tried not to take the whole ‘senior’ thing personally – I’m sure Mark didn’t mean it that way. I told the crowd what good friends Mark and I have been for a lot of years. I also told them how, shortly after I was married, one of his first questions to me was whether or not Medicare had a maternity plan. You just have to love him.
This weekend I’ll be on the coast of North Carolina for a concert. I’m looking forward to it – I love singing to Tar Heels!
